BRIEF HISTORY
Edward Lear (1812-1888) is most famous today for his literary nonsense, especially his limericks. In 1867, Lear wrote his famous poem, the Owl and the Pussycat, whilst in residence at Knowsley Hall, together with his famous nonsense poems for Lord Derby's grandchildren, great-nephews and great-nieces.
