BRIEF HISTORY
Widely believed to be named in honour of the 17th Earl, Edward George Villiers, as not only was he an influential figure in World War I as Secretary of State for War, he was given the role as British Ambassador to France after the war ended. He was also Lord Mayor of Liverpool in 1911 and 1912 and affectionately known as "The King of Lancashire".
